From image management to crisis communications, Beck Ellman Heald has been advocating for clients in the public relations space since 1986. The combined expertise of the company’s dedicated team of communicators has equipped them with the skill set to effectively manage the branding, messaging, and social media of some of San Diego’s top brands. In this month’s feature, we are shining the spotlight on Beck Ellman Heald’s Vince Heald.

Can you describe your role at Beck Ellman Heald?

As a partner and owner of Beck Ellman Heald Public Relations, my professional passions have always been relationship building, business development, and strategic guidance. With so many amazing non-profit and for-profit leaders in our community, I rediscover the wonders of our region every day, which is why I find my work to be so rewarding. The service we provide our clients is extremely important, as they put their trust in us each day. It is essential that we always put the interests of our clients and the community first.

What role does philanthropy play at your company?

For Beck Ellman Heald, philanthropy is at the core of our work. We have represented countless non-profit organizations in San Diego County for decades and have the highest level of respect for their missions. During this challenging time, organizations are working harder than ever to serve our most vulnerable and they rely on the generosity of our community to support them in ways that are unconventional for many. Large scale, in-person galas and events that raise major funding for programs and services are currently not an option. So getting creative with fundraising and engagement is key. I am proud to see how philanthropy in our community remains strong, despite many uncertainties. I encourage all of San Diego to give generously to the charities that support your passions.

Who/what inspires you to give back?

My family, friends, and clients motivate me each day. Clients such as Mission Federal Credit Union and La Jolla Cosmetic Surgery Center, who support our non-profit sector in such impactful ways, are incredibly inspiring as I have witnessed the significant impact of their generosity on the lives of those in need. I have had the great privilege of knowing many of San Diego’s leading philanthropists who give generously from their hearts to support the arts, the underserved, education and life sciences, all of whom reaffirm my belief in the goodness of San Diego. What often moves me the most are those on the front lines, such as my dear friend Sean Daneshmand, M.D., founder of Miracle Babies, who works tirelessly each day to provide essential care for the most vulnerable. They are the true heroes.

How do you like to spend your time outside of work?

My husband Clinton Walters and I cherish the time we can spend with our friends and family and we love to travel. We look forward to the time when we can again travel abroad more frequently and continue to discover the wonders of our world. We also enjoy spending time continuing the work on our century old Spanish home in Point Loma and always take the time to create a comforting meal at the end of a long day.
