Uniting Families through Transportation Assistance
For the past 12 years, Miracle Babies has been providing services to parents with hospitalized infants. Miracle Babies’ tagline is “Together for a better beginning,” reflecting the importance of this family connection in the critical early weeks and months of an infant’s life and its linkage to improved health outcomes.
Launched in June 2020, Miracle Babies’ Special Delivery program enables parents to remain united with their infants in the ICU. Home-to-hospital-to-home shuttle service is provided to mothers who cannot drive upon discharge because of c-section deliveries, pregnancy complications, or parents who have financial barriers and limited means to get to and from the hospital. For many parents, the financial burden or arranging transportation adds considerable stress to the many challenges they already face.
The goal of the program is to relieve this burden and allow parents to spend more time in the hospital ICU with their infants. By bringing together parents and their hospitalized babies during the early developmental window, Miracle Babies allows infants to breastfeed and enjoy skin-to-skin contact. This has the potential to make a lasting impact on the lives of hospitalized babies, their families, society, and possibly future generations.
Miracle Mom Krista shared with GB Magazine, “Miracle Babies is amazing. I can see my baby daily and stay on top of her progress and medical care. All the staff has been amazing, the drivers are more than drivers they show sympathy, care, and love of what they are doing for us parents going through a traumatic time.”
