Tri-City Medical Center Emergency Health REIMAGINED at
The Tri-City Hospital Foundation, which has dedicated itself to helping Tri-City Medical Center thrive since 1964, has a new project and an esteemed community partner. The David C. Copley Foundation has awarded Tri-City Hospital Foundation with a two-to-one matching gift of up to $1.2 million that will become the cornerstone of a redesign of Tri-City Medical Center’s emergency department (ED), a major resource for emergency and critical care for the North County coastal community.
Kim Koch, Chief Operating Officer of the David C. Copley Foundation (previously the Helen K. and James S. Copley Foundation) said, “The Foundation appreciates the value and importance of reliable medical care, looks for organizations that can make life better for the people they serve and knows Tri-City Hospital falls within this category. Tri-City Hospital is the people’s hospital and the services it provides to North County San Diego are vital.”
Jennifer Paroly, President, Tri-City Hospital Foundation, shared with GB Magazine, “We are excited to partner with the David C. Copley Foundation and are honored by their trust in us and their commitment to our community hospital as we move forward with reimagining emergency care.” Steve Dietlin, President & CEO, Tri-City Medical Center added, “The emergency room is very much the front door to our hospital. This thoughtful and generous gift and this emergency department redesign project reflects our ongoing commitment to providing the highest quality of care and improving the experience for our patients and their families.”
Once funded, this project will completely reimagine the medical center’s emergency room entrance, patient and family waiting area, triage area, and Station A, one of three major treatment areas in the ED. This redesign will improve upon Tri-City Medical Center’s already excellent outcomes by streamlining the triage process to decrease wait times and improve patient experience.
Jennifer added, “Our fundraising events allow us to continue to support quality, compassionate healthcare at our community hospital in California serving Carlsbad, Oceanside, Vista and the surrounding area. Last year’s events raised money for the latest state-of-the-art MRI machine. Services such as full cardiac imaging, advanced skeletal, brain, soft tissue, breast, neuro, orthopedic, and spine imaging will be offered. All of the this will be done in a much larger scan opening to reduce claustrophobia and allow freer breathing to make MRI imaging as comfortable as possible.”
Tri-City Medical Center, which celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2021, is home to acclaimed emergency room based programs in heart attack and stroke care, recently receiving five gold and gold plus awards in these areas from the American Heart Association as part of their Get With the Guidelines program.
The Foundation has helped fund numerous programs and services for the medical center, including the da Vinci® Robotic Surgical System, the Siegel Family Surgical Suites, the Beatrice Riggs French Women’s Center, and the Edgar & Jo Anne Jones Women’s Diagnostic Center. The Foundation has also raised funds for specialty equipment to treat patients with Parkinson’s disease, grants for hospital staff for specialized education to raise the level of patient care, and funds for cancer screenings, cancer support group meetings, cancer care navigation.
