Feeding San Diego Takes Action With The Community’s Help

If hunger is on your mind right now, you are not alone. Thousands of people in San Diego County – and millions across America – are on the brink of hunger if they are not experiencing it already. COVID-19 is deepening the hunger crisis, causing it to be at the forefront of global conversations. Feeding San Diego, strengthened by incredible community support, continues its ongoing mission to connect every person facing hunger with nutritious meals by maximizing food rescue.

The year 2020 has brought about unprecedented challenges, requiring our community to come together, urging every person to do their part. These challenges exacerbate the problem of hunger, which affects more than 54 million people in the United States alone. In San Diego County, Feeding San Diego is experiencing an estimated 50 percent increase in need. The organizations support children, families, seniors, college students, active-duty military families and veterans by providing critical food assistance. The pandemic has also changed the face of hunger, with thousands of people relying on Feeding San Diego’s services for the first time.

As the on-going shutdown continues, Feeding San Diego’s vision has been, and will always be, a hunger-free and healthy San Diego. Faced with new challenges, the organization has stepped up, continuing to meet the increased need of the community through emergency and expanded distributions made possible by philanthropic support.

The need for food assistance in San Diego County has never been greater. The solution to addressing the pandemic and ending hunger across San Diego County will take all of us We must do it together.
