For 39 years, Home of Guiding Hands (HGH) has presented the Charity Golf Classic at various golf courses throughout San Diego. All proceeds from these tournaments have gone and continue to go toward their mission of improving the lives of the people they serve with intellectual and developmental disabilities. HGH has raised well over $900,000 through these golf tournaments over the years!

This year marks the 40th Annual Charity Golf Classic and takes place on Friday, September 16th, at the Singing Hills Golf Resort at Sycuan, on the Willow Glen Golf Course. Players will enjoy 18 holes of golf while being treated to unlimited beverages, craft beers and all-you-can-eat on-course food stations, including Dang Bros Pizza and ice cream, as well as contests and games out on the course.

Registration and driving range practice begin at 8:00 am, allowing enough time for players to enjoy their complimentary breakfast and grab a Bloody Mary before the special shotgun send-off by HGH clients at 9:00 am.

An awards reception will take place following the end of the tournament, complete with drinks and charcuterie meats and cheeses. There are first-place prize winners in three categories: men’s, women’s and mixed teams. Each player from a winning team will get a $100 Visa gift card.

In addition to the complimentary breakfast sandwich and Blood Mary, each player will receive an embroidered golf towel, iced bottled water and energy drinks on their carts. A premium package for individuals or teams is also available which includes all the items in the regular ticket packages, plus two mulligans and a chance to win a new Yeti cooler!

This year marks the organization’s 55th anniversary. Since 1967, HGH has been focused on improving the lives of the clients they serve. Having grown from a 200-bed campus setting in Lakeside, to now owning and operating 28 residential homes throughout East County, as well as an office in El Centro.

Today, HGH is one of San Diego County’s largest providers of support and services for people with developmental and intellectual disabilities, such as autism, Down’s syndrome, epilepsy and cerebral palsy. Their programs, including but not limited to, Early Childhood Development, Independent Living, Infant Development Assessments, Respite Care, and Tailored Day Services benefit more than 4,200 infants, children and adults each year.

HGH believes that individuals thrive when they can direct their own lives in a setting that provides individualized attention, opportunities for self-sufficiency and greater community access and integration.

Fully embracing the philosophy of the whole person, HGH respects the familial, cultural and environmental influences that contribute to the unique characteristics and individual skills of each person. They emphasize a collaborative partnership and maintain a commitment to the use of best practices when providing services to persons with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
