San Diego’s Best Rooftop Party!
In honor of Diabetes Research Connection’s (DRC) 10th anniversary, this local nonprofit’s dedicated board members, volunteers, and staff team will host their 4th annual Dance for Diabetes, “Seaside Soiree,” in person! They invite you to join the fun on Saturday, October 22nd, 2022, at the Del Mar Plaza to experience a curated menu hosted by Chef Jimenez of Monarch Ocean Pub, signature cocktails, live entertainment, a silent auction, and more. Tickets are available now, and the party will be live-streamed for those who want to join virtually. This event raises necessary funds to support DRC’s mission to seek out, peer-review and provide seed funding to the most promising Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) research by innovative, early-career scientists across the country – giving hope to those living with the disease. The goal is to allow every dollar the Seaside Soiree event raises to go towards the event’s beneficiary, DRC. Their dedicated sponsors, Tarson Investments, the County of San Diego, Tandem Inc., Steve and Teresa Korniczky, DLA Piper, LLC, Benchmark Inc., AMCR Insititute, and various underwriters help make this happen!
Since its inception, Sherry and Kevin Ahern have been generous supporters as Blue Circle Leaders of DRC and are serving as Event Chairs for the party this year. Sherry shares with GB Magazine, “After our son Brendan, now 32, was diagnosed at age 10 with T1D, my husband Kevin and I got involved with funding research for the cure. David Winkler and Dr. Alberto Hayek, local leaders working on the cure, started DRC. After many years of funding the most innovative T1D research, we decided a fun party would get the word out about the critical work DRC is doing. The party helped raise awareness and money to fund researchers. It is the most fun party in town with the best music, silent dancing and a spectacular view. Please come and share in the fun! There will be plenty of healthy, low-carb options provided by Rotisserie Affair Catering, and the dessert bar will have low sugar options provided by Jimbo’s, various flavors of An’s Gelato, Darshan bakery’s sweet treats and more! The low-sugar signature cocktail is proudly provided by Tito’s vodka. There will be several stations where attendees can enjoy other fares, such as a wine tasting provided by DRC’s featured wine sponsor Danza del Sol Winery, chocolate tasting by Good Chocolate, Casamigos Tequila tasting, and a “ring for champagne” wall.
Encore Entertainment, an expert team of music and event production professionals, will deliver an unforgettable experience for guests. They will lead a silent dance party at the night’s end along with other entertainment. While overlooking a fantastic sight of the Del Mar horizon and ocean view, guests can participate in an opportunity drawing to win a tree of gift cards to favorite local boutiques, restaurants and other select businesses. A silent auction will be live online a few months in advance and open to the public to help raise funds for T1D research.
