San Ysidro Health Evolving Comprehensive Services for Communities Served during COVID-19
As San Diego County prepared for the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, San Ysidro Health, a nonprofit committed to providing high quality, compassionate, accessible and affordable health care services, quickly evolved in order to continue its mission and meet the needs of the communities the organization serves.
San Ysidro Health has transformed its system of care to continue to provide essential health services in the safest manner for their 105,000 patients including rural families in its new service area in East County.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization is providing telehealth services to patients across San Diego County. The SYHealthLine, (619) 205-6792 is available for new and existing patients to speak with a health care provider. The SYHealthLine offers telemedicine related to COVID-19 symptoms or exposure as well as general medical care outside of COVID-19 such as diabetic care or pediatric sick visits. If patients need further in-person care, they will be directed to the best way to receive care without compromising their health or the health of others. The SYHealthline is available Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
San Ysidro Health’s San Diego PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) program, has also enhanced services for its senior patients and families during this time that include: meals and groceries delivered at home, prescription medication delivery, home care assistance, personalized coordination of care, transportation Services to super markets (during senior approved hours) and therapy and activities in the home.
In addition, San Ysidro Health has a Fresh Food Distribution program at various clinic sites available for families and patients who are in need of nutritional services and support during COVID-19. The organization has food distribution sites at its Maternal and Child Health Center and Chaldean and Middle Eastern clinic sites. Recently, San Ysidro Health has partnered with the City of National City, Catholic Charities Diocese of San Diego and other local organizations to create the National City Food Distribution Collaboration. The collaboration was created to maximize food distribution efforts and help more members of the communities the organizations serve.
