PATRONS OF THE PRADO
Supporting an extraordinary collection of arts and cultural institutions at Balboa Park
The Prado is Balboa Park’s central promenade, a crown jewel famous for its historical artisan-crafted facades, lush gardens, sparkling pools and flowing fountains. The area is alive with highly prized attractions, exhibitions and performances. The Prado provides a world-class cultural and educational experience for the millions of locals and visitors from around the world who frequent Balboa Park each year.
Since 1997, Patrons of the Prado has funded over $4.7 million in grant funds and provided tens of thousands of all-volunteer hours to benefit the distinguished array of arts, science and cultural organizations that occupy the Prado in Balboa Park. Through the Bucks4Buses Program, a core pillar of their mission ensures access for the youth of our community to the high-quality educational programming made available by their ten beneficiaries. Patrons is committed to providing opportunities for young students to reap the benefits provided by science-based, hands-on programs, as well as exposure to the wide array of visual and performing arts offered in Balboa Park.

You can help make an impact for a wide range of Balboa Park’s cultural landmarks and the future of our community’s arts, science and culture by partnering with Patrons of the Prado’s to support their 2021 fundraising efforts including the annual MASTERPIECE gala event, which last year was postponed in light of the COVID pandemic.
Event Chairs Julie Novak, Roxi Link, Merridee Book and President Nancie Geller invite you to step back in time and be transported to the 1920’s Paris of Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Picasso Chagall, and other cultural luminaries celebrating MIDNIGHT IN PARIS. 1920s Paris belongs to us all – and the attire and decor will align with the carefree, joyous, bohemian existence immortalized in so many novels, paintings and films of the era. Here’s to a new generation of roaring 20’s ingenuity and exploration.
Traditionally slated for July and hosted in the iconic outdoor venue of the Spreckel’s Organ Pavilion, the organization continues to monitor the restrictions for gatherings and major events, as well as the safety and health of all supporters. This year they are planning a beautiful autumn evening, so please keep an eye out for the latest updates and information regarding the event.
