Proud of the Organization’s Commitment to Patient Excellence & Philanthropy

La Jolla Cosmetic Surgery Centre and Medical Spa has a long history of philanthropy in San Diego. Their surgeons, staff and patients love “giving back” and want to be part of the greater community by supporting local charities.
“One of the many reason’s I relish my relationship with the practice is its long-term commitment to the community,” Hector Salazar-Reyes, M.D., FACS shared with GB Magazine. “In addition to an amazing group of physicians and staff, the La Jolla Cosmetic Surgery Centre is a good neighbor. I am especially appreciative of the Centre’s long relationship with Las Patronas, a volunteer organization that helps support a wide array of nonprofit organizations in San Diego. My wife, Ingrid, is a current member. Throughout its 75-year history, Las Patronas has raised millions of dollars for local charities from its annual Jewel Ball at La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club. This year was challenging with COVID and they had the first “virtual” ball, but they were able to reach their goals to help many local organizations.”
The practice also supports a broad range of community and international causes. These include The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank and Humble Design, a nonprofit that serves families and veterans emerging from homelessness by transforming an empty house or apartment into a home. In 2019, LJCSC underwrote three home transformations and are continuing that this year. LJCSC CEO, Marie Olesen, joined the board and the practice is planning to help them increase monthly donations through their annual Attitude of Gratitude November program in which they encourage their patients, followers and team to express thanks to the community.
LJCSC proudly supports Mainly Mozart, a beloved music series dedicated to enriching the lives of today’s and tomorrow’s passionate music lovers. LJCSC has served as Mainly Mozart’s Community Partner and Dr. Johan Brahme is Vice President of its Board of Directors. The organization’s support of La Jolla Music Society extends back to the 1970s. Over the years, LJCSC surgeons and their spouses have taken leadership roles and given substantial support to this wonderful organization that enriches our community. Both Dr. Merrel Olesen, LJCSC Founder, and Marie Olesen have served as Presidents of the Society and Dr. Brahme was a board member for many years.
“I admire Marie’s vision because she believes that most patients in medicine need more support, help and education related to their medical care,” Dr. Salazar-Reyes stated. “We also want to understand the needs of the greater community and help with causes that are important to us and to our patients.”
Marie Olesen added, “At La Jolla Cosmetic Surgery Center, we gather a team of like-minded people who work together toward the achievement of something important, our shared vision and beliefs. Focus on helping your team, support each other and bring the value you intend to the community.”
