Institute of the Americas’ 40th anniversary celebration honored the Founder, Ambassador Theodore E. Gildred II, who lived in Rancho Santa Fe for decades, and those who provided the Institute with early strategic support. Attendees met special guest Ambassador Thomas A. Shannon Jr., who served as Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, the third highest ranking position at the State Department. The celebration also honored UCSD Chancellor Pradeep Khosla, PhD. and other distinguished San Diego supporters.
El 40° aniversario del Instituto de las Américas rindió homenaje a su fundador, el Embajador Theodore E. Gildred II, quien por décadas vivió en Rancho Santa Fe y a varias personas más que ofrecieron al instituto importante apoyo estratégico en sus comienzos. Los presentes se reunieron con el invitado especial, Embajador Thomas A. Shannon Jr. quien ocupó el cargo de Sub Secretario de Estado de Asuntos Políticos, el tercer puesto en jerarquía dentro del Departamento de Estado. La celebración también rindió homenaje al canciller de UCSD, Dr. Pradeep Khosla, entre otros distinguidos colaboradores de San Diego.
