Giving the Gift of Life
San Diego Blood Bank Foundation is the fundraising entity that advances San Diego Blood Bank’s (SDBB) critical healthcare role in the community.
Through San Diego Blood Bank Foundation’s annual individual and corporate giving programs, financial donors connect patients to life by helping fund the vital resources needed to support SDBB’s lifesaving blood collection program at nine donation locations and on 10 bloodmobiles operating over 3,000 annual community blood drives throughout the Southern California region.
Financial donors play an integral role in SDBB’s mission to ensure critical resources are available to collect, process, and distribute lifesaving products to patients in need. These red blood cells, platelets, and plasma products helped treat cancer patients, burn victims, those with rare blood disorders, COVID-19 patients, and trauma victims. Last year, in partnership with blood and financial donors, SDBB distributed over 227,000 units of donated blood products, impacting up to 681,000 lives!

Expanding to meet the increasing demand of blood throughout Southern California, SDBB has opened two new donation locations at Irvine Business District in Orange County (operating as Southern California Blood Bank, a division of San Diego Blood Bank), and in Point Loma at Liberty Station. And this Spring, a new, permanent donation location in Chula Vista at Terra Nova Plaza will open to serve South San Diego. These locations will increase the blood supply and help save thousands more lives every year in the Southern California region.
