Fandom Comes to Life at the Comic-Con Museum
As the Comic-Con Museum beams into its second year, opportunities to celebrate, learn from and meet comic creators and interact with new exhibits await starting February 4.
Kicking off 2023 with Animation and Comic Art Legends
The Museum’s new headline exhibit, “The Animation Academy: From Pencils to Pixels” invites visitors to transport themselves behind the scenes where imagination becomes reality. The many interactive stations in this exhibition provide opportunities for visitors to experiment and create their own stop-motion animated short, learn about the art of storyboarding, go behind the scenes with artists and animators, snap photos in the sets of their favorite animated TV shows, and see the world’s largest traveling 3D zoetrope. From traditional hand-drawn cels to exciting breakthroughs in stop-motion and CGI, visitors can see how their favorite characters came to life.
The greats of the comics art world shine in “Cover Story,” an exhibit displaying program covers and art, including original drawings, from the Comic-Con convention over the past 50+ years and featuring comic artists such as Will Eisner, Jack Kirby and Jim Lee.
Popular Arts for All
The Museum’s mission is to celebrate comics and related popular arts to all. One way it makes its popular arts wonderland accessible is by arts-inspired education through its Education Center and School Access Fund, which helps defray costs for San Diego Title 1 school field trips. Mientras el Museo del Comic-Con entra en su segundo año, las oportunidades de celebrar, aprender y encontrarse e interactuar con creadores del cómic se multiplican en la próxima exhibición a comenzar el 4 de febrero.
Comenzando el 2023 con Animación y Comic Art Legends
La nueva exhibición emblema del Museo “The Animation Academy: From Pencils to Pixels” (La Academia de Animación: de pinceles a pixeles), invita a los visitantes a transportarse al detrás de escena, donde la imaginación se vuelve realidad. Las muchas estaciones interactivas de la exhibición brindan la oportunidad de experimentar y crear propias animaciones cortas de stop-motion, aprender sobre el arte del storyboarding, ir detrás de escena con artistas y animadores, sacar fotos en los sets de sus programas favoritos de TV y ver el más grande zootropo 3D viajero del mundo. Desde las tradicionales células dibujadas a mano a innovadores stop-motions y CGI, los visitantes pueden ver cómo cobran vida sus personajes favoritos.
Los más grandes del mundo del cómic deslumbran en “Cover Story”, una exhibición donde se puede ver arte y portadas de programas, incluyendo dibujos originales de las últimas 50 convenciones Comic-Con, contando con artistas como Will Eisner, Jack Kirby y Jim Lee.
