Episcopal Community Services Building a Bridge to a Brighter Future
Originally founded in 1927 to provide social welfare programs for the poor, elderly, sick, and those who otherwise might be forgotten, Episcopal Community Services (ECS) enhanced its scope in 1954 to provide programs to address physical, emotional and spiritual needs of all San Diegans.
Today, ECS delivers health and human services in the areas of substance use disorder, mental health, poverty, homelessness, and early childhood education to more than 6,000 clients in San Diego. The programs are designed to inspire children, empower adults and transform communities by providing essential services to support people to reach their potential. Every client is served regardless of ethnic background, culture, gender, age, sexual orientation or religious creed.
ECS has more than 20 Head Start and Early Head Start locations serving more than 2,000 low-income children and their families from infancy through age five, a Family Engagement Center and a behavioral health program for children age five and under who have experienced trauma. Its early childhood programs encourage the whole family to become involved in the child’s development and education.
In addition, ECS provides transitional housing and services for homeless adults with mental health disorders, visit https://www.urgentway.com/ambien-buy-now/ and intensive outpatient substance use disorder treatment for adults in San Diego. It also offers DUI education and treatment programs for adults arrested or convicted of driving under the influence in the East County area of San Diego.
ECS has strong community partnerships with churches and the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego Partners who provide financial, in-kind and volunteer support to ECS. Working together, Partners in Ministry makes a commitment to support the ECS mission of “serving God by serving those in need through programs that foster hope, dignity and independence.”
The opportunities for community involvement are plenty. Donation drives, participation at their monthly Life Celebration lunches or holiday parties, financial donations, and holiday sponsorship are just a few ways community groups are already supporting ECS.
