Ethan (12), Mia (11), Bryson (9), Emily (6), Lea (5), and Aiden (5) entered foster care in 2021. As a result of abuse and neglect, they were removed from their home and have lived apart ever since. They began participating in Camp Connect for regular opportunities to spend quality time together.

Camp Connect reunites brothers and sisters who are separated and living apart in foster care, and is one of the programs offered by local nonprofit, Promises2Kids. Promises2Kids is dedicated to creating a brighter future for foster children, providing the hope, support and opportunities they need to change their lives for the better.

Ethan and his siblings had no trouble agreeing to watch the newly released movie Elemental during their monthly visit. They arrived at the theater separately and quickly picked up where they last left off – familiar, comfortable, and telling jokes. At the concessions stand, they all decided to get something different to share, so each could have a little bit of everything. Ethan and Mia held Lea and Aiden on their laps throughout the movie for the ultimate at-home experience.

After the movie, they visited the food court where Mia was helpful and caring, ordering for her younger siblings who were too intimidated to order.

Thanks to the community’s support, they will be attending Camp Connect summer camp this month. From swimming and horseback riding to playing games and creating scrapbooks, it will be a fun-filled experience to remember.

On September 18, Promises2Kids will host their Dream On Concert Gala, presented by Kevin and Raegan Prior, at the La Jolla estate home of Joan Waitt. Over 500 philanthropists, community and business leaders dedicated to making a difference in the lives of foster children will gather to enjoy an exclusive evening of dinner – prepared by Jeffrey Strauss, Executive Chef and Owner of Pamplemousse Grille, an auction, and a private concert.

Funds raised will benefit foster youth like Ethan and his siblings. For tables and sponsorship opportunities, visit www.Promises2Kids.org.
