Cross Border Xpress
Expediting Travel to Top Destinations in Mexico
Opened in 2015, Cross Border Xpress (CBX) is a unique 390 foot long bi-national bridge connecting directly from San Diego to a terminal in the Tijuana International Airport (TIJ). From its conception, CBX was designed to improve travel between Southern California and Mexico by offering a faster, more convenient way to cross one of the busiest borders in the world. Since opening, the facility has served more than 8.5 million passengers, demonstrating the enormous potential for positive tourism on both sides of the border.
By using CBX, travelers have access to more than 35 direct flights to top destinations in Mexico, operated by leading Mexican airlines such as Volaris, Aeroméxico, Viva Aerobus, Interjet and Calafia. A direct flight to Beijing is also available from TIJ operated by Hainan Airlines.
In addition to saving time with direct flights, travelers can save a significant amount of money on fares. Since flights to Mexican destinations out of TIJ are considered domestic, passengers bypass international taxes and fees, making fares up to 40 percent less expensive when compared to larger airports like LAX or San Diego International Airport.
Passengers can also take advantage of daily shuttle services to multiple locations throughout Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego and San Ysidro. Those who prefer to drive can utilize the facility’s large parking lot for overnight parking. Parking prices range from $15 to $18 per day, considerably less than comparable airports.
To use the bridge, travelers must have a valid airline boarding pass, CBX ticket and official travel documents, including a passport. Tickets to use CBX are available online for $16 one way ($20 at the counter), or $30 round trip per person. Those traveling in groups of four or more can find packages with special offers and pricing available throughout the year.
