Compassion Across Our Region
As we begin to emerge from the challenging times we just underwent, it is important to recognize the people, businesses and non-profits that make a difference in our region. Their commitment to create a culture of kindness and hope positively impacted our communities through action, caring and providing resources for those in need.
La Jolla Cosmetic Surgery– The San Diego Food Bank received a check in the amount of $10,000 from La Jolla Cosmetic Surgery Center and the many generous San Diegan’s who donated as part of the “Feed the Fam” fundraiser designed to help engage the community to help feed vulnerable San Diegans affected by the pandemic. Hector Salazar-Reyes, MD and Lauren Amico Reed presented the check to James Floros, San Diego Food Bank President & CEO.
MAAC- MAAC held an Emergency Food Distribution in Spring Valley and served over 500 San Diego families. The food distribution is recognized as a Food Bank Partner and has been absolutely vital for the community due to the volume of assistance they have been providing to the community since the pandemic began.
South Bay Community Services– SBCS’ friendly drive-thru food distribution team served South Bay families in need. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, their food distribution team has served more than 54,000 with critical nutrition support for neighbors in need.
The Arc of San Diego– The Arc of San Diego supports and empowers people with disabilities to achieve their life goals. During these challenging times, thanks to organizations such as the Rock Church and Rock Church of East County, they have been able to continue to help their clients and families by ensuring they have the food they need. The visits ensure that the team members get to see the of the smiling faces of those that they miss so much!
Fundación SIMNSA– SIMNSA’s CEO, Frank Carrillo created the nonprofit, Fundación SIMNSA. The Foundation is involved in making sure our communities are safe environments that harbor the best quality of life. During the pandemic they donated 700 facemasks to all the healthcare workers, nurses, and hospital personal of the General Hospital of Tijuana.
San Diego Automotive Museum– It was an emotional moment as the San Diego Automotive Museum reopened their doors and welcomed guests back. After taking the exhibits to the people, it was time to bring the people to the exhibits and staff and guests were delighted to wave the Green Flag and start the excitement.
