Sony Vision-S Car

Sony has developed a car, a breathtaking EV car, which was revealed the night before the official start of CES 2020. The car is all about safety on the outside and entertainment on the inside, and… its aesthetically intoxicating. The car represents a fusion of Sony’s technology and creativity. It is a glimpse into the future of mobility, encompassing the evolution of safety, comfort, entertainment and adaptability. Just sitting in it, makes you feel as if you’ve already arrived!

The car truly was a show stealer as Consumer Electronics Show, Time and Engadget all acknowledged Vision-S with Best of CES awards.

Those deep in tech may have been surprised but acknowledge the logic as solid. Sony as the global leader in image sensors packed a total of 33 sensors (including CMOS image sensors and ToF sensors) in order to detect and recognize people and objects inside and outside the car and provide highly advanced driving support.

Sony’s “360 Reality Audio” provides a deep and immersive audio experience inside the ride as well via speakers built into each seat to encapsulate passengers in sound. The front seats face a panoramic screen on which rich and diverse content can be enjoyed through an intuitive user interface.

Sony Corporation President & CEO Ken Yoshida states that “Creativity is a powerful driving force that moves Sony forward. When it is combined with our technology, it is unstoppable.”

5G Proof of Concept Trial

Sony conducted a proof of concept trial by capturing video of a live football game with a 5G-connected camera, showing how 5G can allow for more creative and untethered camerawork while also reducing set-up time and costs. Visitors to the Sony booth saw a video introducing this initiative, and also the equipment used during the trial including Sony’s PXW-Z450 shoulder camcorder, Xperia 5G mmWave device that enables high-speed data uplink, and a prototype transmitter box that encodes and transmits high-quality video in real-time

Following the press conference, an interactive panel was held with key leaders to unpack the deep ecosystem that Sony holds across entertainment and innovation. Sony Innovation Fund first funded company, DefinedCrowd, led the discussion on AI and the importance of cognitive diversity when innovating.  Daymond John touched on his soon to be released book “PowerShift”. Mike Fasulo touched on the importance of work-life balance, retention and recruitment and the work force of tomorrow. Panelist included Sony COO and President, Mike Fasulo, Cheryl Goodman, Sony, Daymond John, The Shark Group and Dr Danila Braga, CEO of DefinedCrowd.
