BLCI Launches Back to School Drive
Back to school supplies cost an average of $75 – $150 per student. Incoming college freshman face even higher costs as students prepare to live away from home for the first time and have the added expense of setting up a dorm room. For families already facing economic hardship, this is an added challenge and without adequate supplies, students start the school year already being behind.
To support students in need during this important time of year, BLCI is launching a Back-to-School Drive. Donating is as easy as visiting the BLCI Amazon Wish List! Select your items and have them shipped directly to BLCI, or donations can be dropped off at any BLCI program site. Gift cards and general donations are also accepted if you prefer students to select their own items.
High need items include backpacks and water bottles for younger students, and for rising college freshman: bedding, towels and shower supplies. Year-round needs include books for the BLCI program library and for the upcoming Community Book Drive in Partnership with San Diego Oasis on September 21, 2024. Donate your favorite childhood book or select a book from BLCI’s preferred reading list on Amazon.
