10 Things About Roxi Link & Patrons of the Prado
“When you’re stuck, be gracious.”
Balboa Park is one of the most widely visited and photographed destinations in San Diego and hosts its renowned arts and cultural institutions among its green spaces. The largest urban cultural park in the United States, Balboa Park includes some of the finest Spanish-Baroque Revival structures in America with much of the present Park originally constructed for the Panama-California Exposition in 1915. Today, this cultural legacy provides San Diego — and the world — one of the most extraordinary landscapes for art, theatre, science, and history. Along with Merridee Book and Julie Cowan Novak, Roxi Link will co-chair Patrons of the Prado’s Masterpiece Event to ensure that vital services remain available for San Diegans as well as visitors to experience the extraordinary power of arts, culture, and science.
10 Things About Roxi Link & Patrons of the Prado
#1 I grew up in Chicago and Glencoe, Illinois. I thought everyone froze in the winter and sweated in the summer!
#2 I always remember my dad saying, there are many times when we’re in a difficult situation, and having a positive response makes things settle down and go more smoothly.
#3 I would always want to live in San Diego; nowhere else. I’m so fortunate to have my kids and grandkids here and have the opportunity to spend time with them. And it’s the best weather anywhere.
#4 I’d like to relearn the guitar; I played through high school and college, and then life got in the way.
#5 Most people don’t know that before I started my Event Planning business, I was a Speech Pathologist.
#6 When I have free time, I like to read, take a walk, check in with family and friends.
#7 I’m definitely a night owl; people are always surprised to receive emails from me around midnight.
#8 I would like to see everyone treat others as you would like to be treated. It’s simple and extremely comprehensive.
#9 Patrons of the Prado assists 10 fabulous museums on the Prado in Balboa Park; each museum reaches out and provides opportunities to so many different types of people. From young children to mature adults, the variety of programs and experiences is endless.
#10 Midnight in Paris is our Masterpiece event this year. All the funds will go to the museums as Unrestricted Funds or for our Bucks4Buses program that provides free bus service to the museums for mostly Title 1 schools. Kids that may never have been to a museum or walked around beautiful Balboa Park will have that memorable experience.
