10 Things About Peggy Preuss & San Diego Opera
#1 I grew up in Pasadena, California.
#2 I would like to visit Morocco, but I will travel anywhere and any place with my grandchildren.
#3 I am a puzzler – I also love photography and drawing (and being with my grandkids).
#4 My favorite musician is Carlos Santana, and my favorite movie is “Gone with the Wind”.
#5 Giving back to the community is a Thank You for the good fortune my husband and I have had in our life.
#6 My husband and I have a miniature poodle named Masha.
#7 Through excellence in innovative programming and education and a commitment to equity, San Diego Opera provides a lasting cultural service to our diverse community. Our deep commitment to our community propels San Diego Opera to embrace inclusivity, accessibility and affordability.
#8 The more you understand about the opera, the more you love it. With all San Diego Opera productions, English translations projected above the stage let you follow every detail of the action. Before each performance, we offer guests enlightening pre-opera lectures to get you ready. After the curtain drops, we host our Talk-Back sessions where San Diego Opera insiders and cast members spend time with the audience.
#9 Our passion for music education comes from the conviction that every child needs to experience music and the creative release of emotions and feelings. Each year, more than 7,500 students in grades 3-12, attend San Diego Opera performances. The Student Night at the Opera program provides students and their chaperones access to the final dress rehearsal of our Main Stage productions. Students have the opportunity to hear the opera stars sing accompanied by the San Diego Symphony Orchestra, see the cast and chorus in spectacular costumes, watch the backstage set transformations and, on occasion, be introduced to some of the performers and crew.
#10 Visual art students from Lincoln High School partnered with San Diego Opera to create artwork for the 2022-23 San Diego Opera season. Funds raised at our gala will help support our education and engagement programs.
