“Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, as long as ever you can.” – John Wesley

The Alzheimer’s Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care, support and research. Its mission is to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research, to provide and enhance care and support for all affected, and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. Executive Director, Katie Croskrey and supporters of the Alzheimer’s Association stand together today to help achieve their vision of a world without Alzheimer’s.

10 Things About Katie Croskrey & Alzheimer’s Association

#1. I grew up in Aptos, a little town on Highway 1 north of Santa Cruz where everyone knew everyone else’s business.

#2. Ireland is my favorite place I have been and Austria is where I would like to travel.

#3. I hope to ski long enough so that I can ski for free (most resorts offer free lift tickets to people of a certain advanced age)!

#4. I played clarinet in the High School marching band and was the Band Manager. I have just come to realize how much that role prepared me for what I do now.

#5. Challenging days can often be affected by the filter through which we see them. I try to identify what is weighing on me – am I tired, frustrated, discouraged? I then minimize that and view the challenge without that filter.

#6. My Mom has had Multiple Sclerosis since I was 6 years old. I learned early in life that sometimes the plan you have for your life doesn’t work out and you need to have a flexibility clause. I do believe trying to plan and micromanage life doesn’t work. You have to take what you are given and make the best plan possible.

#7. My Mom inspires me to this day by how she has managed a life she didn’t expect and still made the best home and life for our family. I am strong because of her.

#8. I think if you listen to the other person’s side of a situation you can find a way to compromise and make the negative situation more equal.

#9. We are so fortunate to be here for people in their darkest hours and help them cope better because of the resources we provide.

#10. The money raised at the Imagination Ball funds all of our local outreach programs, research and advocacy efforts.
