“Never aspire to be something that implies winning people’s approval, simply declare who you are and keep showing up.”
– Brian Rutenberg

#1 I grew up in Lubbock, Texas – home of Texas Tech University and in the top panhandle of the state. I came to San Diego in 1958 with my husband and three children.

#2 Before COVID, my favorite trips were New York in the spring for Broadway, and London in the fall for the good, dramatic plays.

#3 It might surprise some to know that I love physics and electronics as much as I love art and music!

#4 I love all of Neil deGrasse Tyson’s books. I just received his latest. I listen to audio books now more than ever. I was also surprised by how much I enjoyed all of the Sherlock Holmes books.

#5 From the time I could talk, my Mother allowed me to make decisions and she shared her knowledge with me – always assuring me that I could do anything that I put my mind to. Her philosophy regarding children was, they were simply very short adults, and should be treated with attention and respect. I was loved and appreciated.

#6 I think art, music and theater can bring intelligence and joy to our community. In addition to the work I do with Mainly Mozart, I also serve on the San Diego Opera Board and have supported Diversionary Theater for many years. I am thrilled with the new Clark Cabaret!

#7 I enjoyed chamber orchestra and served on the San Diego Chamber Orchestra Board for many years. I was contacted before Mainly Mozart was established, asking for funding for a feasibility study. I was thrilled to help. Nancy Laturno was the glue from the beginning.

#8 Since 1988, Mainly Mozart has brought the San Diego community together to experience the finest in orchestral music, intimate concert experiences and extraordinary music education for young people.

#9 Using the genius of Mozart as inspiration, Mainly Mozart brings together world-class musicians from across North America for both classical and innovative musical programs.

#10 Through our youth orchestra, we are ensuring the preservation and appreciation of classical music by giving young musicians the opportunity to learn and perform together.
