10 Things About Doug Wright & Mission Fed Credit Union

Earning trust, investing in their membership’s success and caring for our community is Mission Fed Credit Union’s mission. Giving back to the community is the centerpiece of its mission, vision and values as evidenced by Mission Fed’s recently announced partnership with the San Diego Symphony. The partnership and sponsorship represent the largest of its kind in Mission Fed’s 62-year history. When Doug Wright originally spoke with others in the community about Mission Fed, he discovered how deeply and uniquely committed Mission Fed is to the financial well-being of its members and to San Diego in general. Doug applied for an open position and today he is Mission Fed’s Chief Financial Officer.
#1 I grew up in Twin Falls, a rural town in south central Idaho.
#2 Both my parents emphasized how important and rewarding it is to help others from very early in my life.
#3 My Dad was a small-town doctor who would assist his paying clients during the day, and serve those without access to medical services for free in the evenings. I have thought much about how I can carry this on, and it has been a strong force in my career, family, and charitable decisions.
#4 I had a very diverse set of jobs during college, including a whitewater river guide, a crime/business reporter for my hometown newspaper, and a Congressional intern in Washington, D.C.
#5 Whitefish, Montana, just outside Glacier National Park, is our go-to place for fun and relaxation. Beautiful mountains, big lakes, and lots of forest, combined with a quaint, friendly small town.
#6 Colby is our 3-year-old Terrier-Chihuahua mix who has never met a child or dog he did not like.
#7 My bedroom was just below my Dad’s den, so I went to sleep listening to Bach, Brahms, or Beethoven every night.
#8 The arts continue to be one of the most under-funded categories of nonprofit giving. The San Diego Symphony, as the oldest orchestra in California, is a 100-plus year nonprofit committed to providing musical experiences for the greater San Diego community.
#9 Mission Fed is working collaboratively with the San Diego Symphony and its community initiatives to reach youth in diverse communities. The Symphony’s High School Ambassador program provides 30 students a paid internship at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park throughout each Summer Season. Mission Fed supports this program by working with the participating students on financial goals, training and financial service solutions.
#10 The Symphony’s Music Connects program is a series of community-based concerts that are performed across San Diego County. Mission Fed will provide 200 tickets per year at no-cost to recipients which include teachers, nonprofit groups, military and more.
