10 Things About Cici Drummond & The Arc of San Diego
“And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”- Paulo Coelho
The Arc of San Diego is the largest, most comprehensive provider of services to children and adults with disabilities. Cici Drummond recently chaired Arc’s Winter Wonderland Fashion Show and Luncheon, proceeds from which will support and empower children and adults with disabilities to achieve their goals.
#1 I grew up in San Diego in the Point Loma neighborhood.
#2 If I did not live in San Diego, Lisbon or Sevilla are a couple of places at the top of my list.
#3 I love to Puzzle in my free time, and I am often working on 2,000-piece puzzles.
#4 I would like to get better at skiing so I can keep up with my daughter! I come from a skiing family, but I am much more timid than my daughter who zooms down the mountain.
#5 I think a 4-day work/school week would be exceptional! As a College professor I am a strong believer in education, but I do feel that education happens outside of the classroom as well. A longer weekend would allow students, individuals and families to spend more time together, visit new and exciting places, have meaningful experiences and enjoy time together that is extremely valuable.
#6 I have a 1-year-old dog named Coco. Her mother was rescued from Mexico, and we were able to adopt her during COVID. She has tons of energy which is great for my son who adores her, and she has become part of the family.
#7 My mother, Maria Stanley, has always stressed the importance of giving back from a young age. I have been a part of many organizations and there is something incredible that happens when you can say you helped someone for no personal gain. I want to instill these things in my own children.
#8 I feel passionate about raising awareness about The Arc of San Diego and how they help individuals with disabilities reach their full potential.
#9 For nearly 10 years, The Arc of San Diego has assisted Alex with obtaining multiple jobs and providing her with on-the-job support and training. After being furloughed from her job during the COVID-19 pandemic, Alex discovered that she loves to write. She was able to publish her first book on Amazon, a collection of short stories and poems called “All You Need for Halloween.” Alex recently published the sequel to her book, “All You Need for Halloween II“.
#10 Winter Wonderland will assist in helping us fill the gap in funding we receive from the State of California and what it costs to operate our programs and services.
