10 Things About Carol Sciotto & The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible and the ministry is motivated by the love of God. The Salvation Army’s mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination. Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, the Salvation Army assists and serves ANYONE in need, regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or any other factor. Carol Sciotto is the 2024 Women of Dedication co-chair and co-liaison for Oceanside Corps.
#1 I was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. At seven, we moved to Costa Mesa, California.
#2 I grew up in a large family, with six sisters and one brother.
#3 Traveling through the Greek Islands with my husband, without an itinerary and just our backpacks is my favorite way to travel.
#4 I would like to go on an African safari and enjoy it with my family.

#6 It is on my bucket list to take the entire family, grandchildren included, to visit my husband’s family in Italy.
#7 I grew up in a poor family that relied on my grandmother to provide food for us every two weeks. One Christmas Day, the Boy Scouts came with gifts and food and while I was embarrassed at the time, I always remember their kindness and generosity. There is a special place in my heart to serve and support seniors and underprivileged families.
#8 Because of my experience as a child, I am extremely aware of the needs of others. I became a member of the Auxiliary first and then was asked to co-chair the Christmas luncheon for low-income seniors at the Centre City Corps. I knew I was in the right place and soon became co-liaison for the Oceanside Corps.
#9 I am especially excited about co-chairing the 2024 Women of Dedication luncheon on April 26, 2024. This event will benefit the Rady Center Project as well as support many other Salvation Army programs.
#10 Proceeds from the Women of Dedication Luncheon will help to fund the new Rady Center Project at our downtown location and will support local Salvation Army programs.
